LOS ANGELES – The Western Conference playoff series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves is shaping up to be a battle for the ages. After dropping Game 1 in dramatic fashion, the Lakers bounced back in Game 2 with a gritty 94-85 win at Crypto.com Arena, tying the series at 1-1.

As the series shifts to Minneapolis for Game 3, Luka Doncic anticipates a fierce showdown at the Timberwolves’ home court, the Target Center. Game 2 saw a dramatic shift in intensity, featuring nearly 50 free throw attempts between both teams.

The Lakers went a perfect 20-of-20 from the line, taking full advantage of 22 fouls committed by Minnesota. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves shot 20-of-25 on free throws, stemming from 24 fouls by the Lakers.

The physicality was evident, and Doncic stepped up in a big way, nearly securing his first career playoff triple-double with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists in 42 minutes of action.

Minnesota set a franchise playoff record in Game 1 with 21 three-pointers, dominating the Lakers with their perimeter shooting. Lakers head coach JJ Redick admitted his team was outmuscled in the opener.

However, Game 2 saw the Lakers flipping the script, delivering a more physical performance that set the tone early, especially in the first quarter. Doncic acknowledged that the Lakers didn't drastically alter their game plan heading into Game 2.

“We didn’t change much,” said Doncic. “It was more about how physical we were willing to play.

We stayed locked in for the full 48 minutes. That’s the kind of basketball we need in this series.” With two days to rest before Game 3 on Saturday (April 26), the Slovenian star is preparing for a high-intensity clash in a raucous Target Center.

“Going to Minnesota will feel like going into battle,” Doncic remarked. “Their fans are wild, and the atmosphere is going to be insane.

The key is to stay composed. Me and Bron have to keep the team together.

We know what to expect, and we’re ready for it.”
