Mauricio Pochettino has once again found himself in the spotlight amid speculation linking him to the vacant Tottenham Hotspur managerial role following the surprising dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. However, the Argentine tactician has firmly denied any immediate possibility of returning to North London, calling the idea “not realistic” given his current responsibilities with the United States Men's National Team (USMNT).

Speaking after the USMNT’s 2-1 defeat to Turkey in a recent international friendly—marking their third consecutive loss—Pochettino addressed the swirling rumors. While he emotionally acknowledged his strong ties with Tottenham, he reiterated that his focus remains on the long-term project of preparing the U.S.

team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted partly on American soil.

The club's poor domestic form, culminating in a dismal 17th-place finish in the Premier League, has reportedly prompted urgent managerial restructuring. Pochettino, who led Spurs to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019, seemed surprised by the speculation.

"Did I see the rumor, or are you asking if I’ll take over?” he asked a reporter. “That’s not realistic,” he stated unequivocally, adding that his name tends to surface anytime a top job opens due to his past success.

He went on to emphasize the scale of his current international commitment: “Look at where I am, and where my staff is,” Pochettino said, signaling his dedication to rejuvenating the USMNT’s performance after a troubling run of form. Despite the setbacks, the coach remains focused on building a competitive squad for the upcoming Gold Cup and beyond.
